3.  OLD BUSINESS

a.  The Club is looking for equipment maintenance and/or repair people, a publicist and a Safety Officer.  Talk to Brian Foster or any of the Club Officers if you are interested.

 b.  The revised by-laws have been forwarded to the CO for review.

 c.  Dock Swagart  has some unique club patches and hats.  He's going to get a revised patch.

4.  NEW BUSINESS

a.  We heard that long time member and past president Mark Ball died of leukemia August 13th.  The Club is going to pay to have him entered in the Navy Log with a picture and a sympathy to Nancy.  If you would like to make a memorial contribution the family would like them to be sent to the Patient Emergency Fund, National Institute of Health, 10 Center Dr, RM 1N252, Bethesda, MD 20892.

 b.  The Harmon Doctors Clinic is getting a high tech recompression chamber this fall.  They will be supplementing the Navy chambers as well as providing hyperbaric medical treatments.  They are going to do a study of diving accidents on Guam.  The Club will be anonymously reporting any diving accidents of our members and the number of tanks filled.

 c.  A diver reported getting bent while within the tables. He had tightened his watch band at depth and did not release it as he ascended.  This restricted circulation to his hand and is the likely cause.  Be sure you do not have tight clothing or straps that restrict the circulation of your blood when you are diving.

 d.  Dock Swagart is trying to get an article about the Club in the Navigator.  If you would like to write an article please contact him.

 e.  A member has proposed setting up a transmitter at the Club house to improve the accuracy of the Global Positioning System (GPS) readouts.  Dock Swagart is going to investigate if this will be possible and what frequency we could use.

 f.  A member who owes the Club money has asked to be a pumper.  It was reiterated that a person must be a member in good standing before they can be appointed.  After he clears his debt he can apply.

 g.  It was decided to postpone buying more regulators and instead to purchase two BCs.

5.  The next board meeting is at 1800, the next general meeting is at 1900, 19 September 1999, at the Club Rumors.
